Taxonomy
Oxyrhina plana was named by Agassiz (1856).
It was recombined as Isurus planus by Hay (1902), Jordan (1907), Jordan (1922) and Kuga (1985); it was synonymized subjectively with Isurus hastalis by Jordan and Hanibal (1923); it was recombined as Cosmopolitodus planus by Malyshkina et al. (2024).
