Finkelnburgia missouriensis
Taxonomy
Finkelnburgia missouriensis was named by Ulrich and Cooper (1936). Its type specimen is USNM 91389a-j and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ulrich Loc. 373-L. 25’ below sandstone layer, 1+ miles NNW of Eminence, which is in a Trempealeauan carbonate dolomite in the Eminence Formation of Missouri.

Cooper 1938 | Shell small, subelliptical in outline; length about three-fourths the width; cardinal extremities rounded or obtusely angular; sides narrowly rounded; front margin broadly rounded; anterior commissure gently sulcate; surface multicostellate, most of the costellae on the dorsal valve subequal in size but with scattered costellae of greater than average strength. In the ventral valve the costellae vary similarly in strength on the flanks of the shell, but there is a narrow sector in the middle of the valve set off by two strong costellae. In some specimens the space between these two strong costellae is more depressed than usual. |
