It was assigned to Delphinidae by Mchedlidze (1959), Mchedlidze (1964), Mchedlidze (1988), Carroll (1988); to Autoceta by McKenna and Bell (1997); to Cetacea by Sepkoski (2002); to Odontoceti by de Muizon (1988), Grigorescu and Kazár (2006); and to Kentriodontidae by Gol'din et al. (2020).
