Euryodus bonneri

Osteichthyes - Gymnarthridae

Taxonomy
Euryodus bonneri was named by Schultze and Foreman (1981) [Small recumbirostran with a narrow skull (width less than two-thirds the total length), proportionately narrow nasals, long postorbital region (shared with gymnarthrids), and a slightly convex occiput (shared with most gymnarthrids, ostodolepids, and brachystelechids); a small notch in premaxilla forms articulation with nasal; nasal is longer than it is broad; pineal foramen absent, a shallow fossa present in its place. Shares with Tambaroter carrolli and Huskerpeton, n. sp.: postorbital length much greater than preorbital length; postorbital forms entire posterior margin of orbit; prefrontal enters margin of naris; frontal distinctly narrower than parietal; anterior waisting of parietals (shared in ostodolepids and some gymnarthrids).]. Its type specimen is KU VP 47367, a partial skeleton (Nearly complete skull with lower jaw, and associated vertebrae and fragmentary humerus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 1.5 miles NW of Eskridge, which is in a Sakmarian marine shale in the Speiser Shale Formation of Kansas.

It was recombined as Proxilodon bonneri by Huttenlocker et al. (2013).
