Taxonomy
Fringilla iliaca was named by Merrem (1786) [Merrem did not originally describe this species in this genus.]. It is extant.

It was recombined as Passerella iliaca by Wetmore (1940), Miller and DeMay (1942), Dawson (1948), Wetmore (1956), Wetmore (1962), Clements et al. (2017).
