Taxonomy
Anas ferruginea was named by Pallas (1764). It is extant.

It was recombined as Casarca ferruginea by Rudenko (1960); it was recombined as Tadorna ferruginea by Burchak-Abramovich and Burchak (1998), Bedetti and Pavia (2013), del Hoyo et al. (2014) and Clements et al. (2017).
