Taxonomy
Preodontochile springfieldensis was named by Sanford and Holloway (2008). Its type specimen is NMV P312070, a cephalon/head, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is PL1369, Springfield, which is in a Telychian marine sandstone in the Springfield Formation of Australia.
