Taxonomy
Peltopleurus nitidus was named by Xu and Ma (2016). Its type specimen is IVPP V20400, a skeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Luoping biota (IVPP collection), which is in a Pelsonian carbonate lime mudstone in the Guanling Formation of China.
