Taxonomy
Echidnops taphomimus was named by Rustan and Balseiro (2016). It is not extant. Its type locality is Las Aguaditas Creek, which is in a Lochkovian deep subtidal shelf limestone/mudstone in the Talacasto Formation of Argentina.
