Alcione elainus
Taxonomy
Alcione elainus was named by Longrich et al. (2018). Its type specimen is FSAC-OB 2, a set of postcrania (partial skeleton including humerus, sternum, scapulocoracoid, and femur), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sidi Daoui [middle Couche III] (general), which is in a Maastrichtian marine phosphorite in the Couche III Formation of Morocco. It is the type species of Alcione.
