Taxonomy
Bountyphaps obsoleta was named by Worthy and Wragg (2008). Its type specimen is NMNZ S.4246, a partial skeleton (right coracoid), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Henderson Island, site 5, which is in a Holocene cave horizon in Pitcairn.
