It was assigned to Stereospondyli by Haughton (1925) and Kuhn (1946); to Brachiopoidea by Carroll (1988); to Stereospondyli by Watson (1919), Damiani and Rubidge (2003) and Schoch (2013); and to Brachyopoidea by Damiani and Warren (1996), Warren and Marsicano (1998), Warren and Marsicano (2000), Yates and Warren (2000) and Schoch and Milner (2014).
