Taxonomy
Calonectris wingatei was named by Olson (2008). Its type specimen is USNM 535555, a skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Calonectris Quarry, which is in a Pleistocene foreshore grainstone in Bermuda.
