Taxonomy
Taikicetus inouei was named by Tanaka et al. (2018). Its type specimen is AMP 35, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Taiki, which is in a Langhian/Serravallian marine sandstone in the Hikatagawa Formation of Japan. It is the type species of Taikicetus.
