Taxonomy
Pycnoptilus fordi was named by Baird (1993). Its type specimen is MVP183128, a limb element (right humerus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pyramids Cave (M-89), which is in a Pleistocene cave siliciclastic in Australia.
