Lexovisaurus phillipsi
Taxonomy
Iguanodon phillipsii was named by Seeley (1869). Its type specimen is SMC B53408, a maxilla (left femur), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Priodontognathus type (PROXY), which is in an Oxfordian marine sandstone in the Calcareous Grit Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Priodontognathus phillipsi by Lydekker (1904), Huene (1927) and Swinton (1936); it was recombined as Dacentrurus phillipsi by Hennig (1915) and Galton (1985); it was recombined as Omosaurus phillipsii by Hoffstetter (1957); it was recombined as Dacentrurus phillipsii by Kuhn (1964); it was recombined as Lexovisaurus phillipsi by Ulansky (2014) and Ulansky (2014); it was misspelled as Iguanodon phillipsi by Woodward and Sherborn (1890), Seeley (1893), Mansel-Pleydell (1896) and Van Den Broeck (1900); it was considered a nomen dubium by Galton (1983), Galton (1990), Ford (2000), Carpenter (2001), Vickaryous et al. (2004), Galton and Upchurch (2004), Maidment et al. (2008) and Ruiz-Omeñaca et al.
