Paedeumias mohavensis was named by Hazzard and Crickmay (1933). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCR loc. 10, Marble Mountains, which is in a Dyeran marine shale in the Latham Formation of California.
It was recombined as Bristolia mohavensis by Lieberman (1999).
