Diagnosis
Reference | Diagnosis | |
---|---|---|
O. P. Hay 1908 (Catapleura) | A genus not well known. Nuchal bone little broader than the anterior peripherals. Nuchal and first and second peripherals suturally joined to the first costal bone. The other peripherals to the eleventh probably not suturally connected with the disk of the carapace. No pit in the second peripheral for the hyoplastron. A pit in the eleventh peripheral for the rib of eight costal. Plastron probably resembling that of Osteopygis, but not extending so far along the peripherals. | |
D. Brinkman et al. 2009 | Differs from Toxochelys Cope 1873, Nichollsemys Brinkman et al. 2006, and Eochelone Dollo 1903 in the presence of a secondary palate. Differs from Ctenochelys Zangerl 1953 in the greater extent of the secondary palate. Distinguished from other cheloniids based on a broad skull, low skull profile, broad and flat triturating surface, and wide, flat dentary with an elongate symphysis. |
