Taxonomy
Alopias palatasi was named by Kent (2018). Its type specimen is CMM-V-385, a tooth (anterior tooth), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Parker Creek, north, Zone 12, which is in a Langhian estuary/bay claystone in the Calvert Formation of Maryland.
