Microceratina

Ostracoda - Podocopida - Cytheruridae

Discussion

From its overall shape, hingement, and the form of its duplicature there seems to be no doubt that Microceratina is a bythocytherinid genus.

Examination of many specimens for well defined muscle scars has, however, proved rather unfruitful. The description of the muscle scar is the best I can

give, but I am doubtful about the two scars directly below the dorsalmost adductor scar. The variability of these two scars indicates either that the dorsalmost scar has almost completely fused with the smaller scar beneath, or that they represent a modified single adductor scar; the latter would make the adopted classification questionable.

Taxonomy
Microceratina was named by Swanson (1980).

It was assigned to Cytheruridae by Ceolin et al. (2024).
