Taxonomy
Stephanocrinus ramsbottomi was named by Donovan and Paul (1985). Its type specimen is BMNH E25427 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Old quarry on Hunterstye, Upper Crummackdale, which is in a Hirnantian marine shale in the Ashgill Shale Formation of the United Kingdom.
