Leptaenopyxis kerfornei was named by Racheboeuf (1976) [= 1850 - Leptaena bouei Barrande - Verneuil. p. 783. = 1889 - Plectambonites bouei (Barrande) Oehlert, p. 777, pl. 19, fig. 11. = 1912- Leptaena (Plectombonites) bouci Barrande - Cotlin, p. 342. ?= 1913 - Strophomena (Leptaena) bouei (Barrande) - Assmann p. 164, pl. 10, fig. 1, 2. ?= 1914 - Leptagonia bouei (Barrande) - Herrmann, p. 331. pars 1942 - Leptaena bouei (Barrande) - Renaud. p. 72-73. pars 1967 - Leptaenopyxis bouei (Barrande) - Havlicek, p. 111. = 1971 - Leptaenopyxis bouei (Barrande) - Jahnke, p. 64. = 1976 - Leptaenopyxis bouei (Barrande) Le Menn et al., p. 25.]. Its type specimen is LPB n˚ 3645 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Saint-Pierre-sur-Erve, which is in an Emsian carbonate limestone/sandstone in the Montguyon Formation of France.
