Permosyne europaea was named by Ponomarenko (2003). Its type specimen is PIN 3446/9, an elytra, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Aristovo (PIN collection 3446), which is in a Changhsingian pond siliciclastic in the Salarevo Formation of the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Tychtocoleus europeus by Ponomarenko (2018).
