Taxonomy
Connagnostus junior was named by Shergold (1971). Its type specimen is CPC 9665, a pygidium, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Gola Beds B520B, which is in a Franconian/Trempealeauan marine grainstone in the Gola Beds Formation of Australia.
