Romaleon urbanus
Taxonomy
Cancer urbanus was named by Rathbun (1917). Its type specimen is USNM 324300, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Los Angeles, from foundation of large building, which is in a Pliocene marine claystone in California.
It was recombined as Cancer (Romaleon) urbanus by Nations (1975); it was recombined as Romaleon urbanus by Schweitzer and Feldmann (2000), Schweitzer and Feldmann (2002), Schweitzer et al. (2010).
