Epikellnerites tamasi was named by Vörös (2018). Its type specimen is HNHM PAL 2017.10.1, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Szentbékkálla vineyards, which is in an Illyrian carbonate limestone in Hungary.
