Welteria was named by Vinassa de Regny (1915) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Carn-l Tr Rhae Sepkoski's reference number: 920,941]. It is not extant. Its type is Welteria repleta.
It was assigned to Calcarea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Solenolmiinae by Finks et al. (2004).
