It was corrected as Pachymegalodus by Krumbeck (1923); it was reranked as Pachyrisma (Pachymegalodon) by Cox et al. (1969).
It was assigned to Megalodontidae by Krumbeck (1923); to Pachyrisma by Cox et al. (1969); and to Hippuritoida by Sepkoski (2002).
