It was synonymized subjectively with Megalosauridae by Hay (1902); it was synonymized subjectively with Deinodontidae by Matthew and Brown (1922); it was synonymized subjectively with Megalosaurinidae by Steel (1970).
It was assigned to Carnosauria by Huene (1927); to Theropoda by Marsh (1890), Marsh (1895), Marsh (1896), Carroll (1988); to Avetheropoda by Paul (1988); and to Carnosauria by Russell (1984), Dong (1992).
It was synonymized subjectively with Megalosauridae by Hay (1902); it was synonymized subjectively with Deinodontidae by Matthew and Brown (1922); it was synonymized subjectively with Megalosaurinidae by Steel (1970).
