Taxonomy
Leptacantholepidus delmontianus was named by David (1956). Its type specimen is CIT 10487, an other (scale), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ohio Oil Co. well Bear State No. 23, which is in a Miocene deep-water horizon in California.
