Taxonomy
Gobioolithus maior was named by Mikhailov (1996). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is PIN 4478-1, an egg, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Khulsan (PIN coll. 4487) [SMPE], which is in a Campanian/Campanian terrestrial horizon in the Baruungoyot Formation of Mongolia.
