Taxonomy
Neosteiromys pattoni was named by Candela (2004). Its type specimen is MNH 92-1-1, a skull (Skull and dentary), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Entre Ríos, which is in a Messinian terrestrial sandstone in the Andalhuala Formation of Argentina.
