Taxonomy
Calappilia perreaulti was named by Feldmann et al. (2019). Its type specimen is MMNS IP-9944 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Marquette Cement Company quarry, Mint Spring Fm., which is in a Rupelian marine marl in the Mint Spring Marl Formation of Mississippi.
