Struthiocephalus was named by Haughton (1915). It is not extant.

It was assigned to Mormosauridae by Boonstra (1936); to Struthiocephalinae by Boonstra (1969); to Tapinocephalidae by Carroll (1988); and to Struthiocephalini by King (1988).
