Taxonomy
Platyrhina dockeryi was named by Case (1994). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bashi Formation, Meridian, which is in an Eocene marginal marine horizon in the Bashi Formation of Mississippi.

It was recombined as Hypolophodon dockeryi by Case et al. (2015).
