Taxonomy
Platystegos loricatum was named by Dawson (1895). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Coal Mine Point; Divison 4, Section XV, coal-group 15, which is in a Westphalian A mire/swamp sandstone/coal in the Joggins Formation of Canada.
