Toxochelys elkader
Discussion
The specimen was found in the Niobrara beds, near Elkader, Logan County, Kansas, by Mr. H. T. Martin, of the University of Kansas.
Taxonomy
Toxochelys elkader was named by Hay (1908). Its type specimen is AMNH 6137, a partial skeleton (skull nearly complete; large portions, perhaps the whole, of the plastron; the shoulder-girdles; portions of the pelvis; and apparently one or two peripherals. ), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is near Elkader, which is in a Santonian offshore chalk in the Niobrara Formation of Kansas.
