Taxonomy
Dolichotis prisca was named by Rovereto (1914). Its type specimen is MACN-Pv 8348, a skull (relatively complete skullIt lacks the anterior most part of the rostrum, the left zygomatic arch and a fragment of right maxilla with the complete dental seri), and it is a 3D body fossil.

; it was recombined as Prodolichotis prisca by Rovereto (1914).
