Taxonomy
Camerospongia was named by d'Orbigny (1849) [Sepkoski's age data: K Vala K Camp-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is not extant. Its type is Scyphia fungiformis. It is the type genus of Camerospongiidae.

It was assigned to Lychniscosa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Camerospongiidae by Finks et al. (2004).
