Diagnosis
Reference | Diagnosis | |
---|---|---|
C.-C. Young 1951 | Carnosauria of gigantic size, maxilla high. Teeth with long massive root, compressed sharply pointed and curving backwards. Both the anterior and posterior edges are marked by fine serrations. | |
M. T. Carrano et al. 2012 (Dilophosaurus sinensis) | Theropod with vertical groove or channel on lateral premaxilla adjacent to contact with maxilla. | |
Z.-C. Zhang et al. 2023 | Diagnostic Feature From Holotype. The ridge over the lateral surface of maxilla dorsal to the alveolar line.
Revised Features from Referred Specimen. The primary diagnostic features of S. triassicus include (1) the vertical crest developed dorsoventrally from the ventral portion of the maxilla to the nasal crest; (2) ventral border of the antorbital fenestra formed mostly by the anterior process of the jugal, taking more than half of the total length; and (3) the fenestra between the nasal, lacrimal and the prefrontal. |
