Taxonomy
Coeloptychium was named by Goldfuss (1826) [Sepkoski's age data: K Albi K Camp-u Sepkoski's reference number: 622,1066]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Coeloptychinae, Coeloptychidae.

It was assigned to Lychniscosa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Coeloptychinae by Finks et al. (2004).
