Glossopleura mohavensis

Taxonomy

Glossopleura mohavensis was named by Resser (1935). Its type specimen is USNM 78400 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Sonoraspis mohavensis by Stoyanow (1956).

Synonyms

Sonoraspis californica was named by Stoyanow and Susuki (1955). Its type specimen is UCLA 23460, an exoskeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCLA loc. 3226, which is in a Delamaran offshore shelf limestone in the Cadiz Formation of California.

It was recombined as Glossopleura californica by Fuller (1980); it was synonymized subjectively with Anoria tontoensis by Foster (2011); it was synonymized subjectively with Glossopleura mohavensis by Foster (2022).
Sonoraspis nelsoni was named by Stoyanow (1958). Its type specimen is UCLA 28991 (complete specimen except for the free cheeks) and is a mold. Its type locality is UCLA loc. 3695, Inyo Mountains, which is in a Delamaran offshore shelf limestone/shale in the Monola Formation of California.

It was synonymized subjectively with Glossopleura mohavensis by Foster (2022).
