Taxonomy
Oryctocephalites palmeri was named by Sundberg and McCollum (1997). Its type specimen is USNM 488926 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Oak Springs Section (ICS-1024), which is in a Dyeran marine horizon in the Pioche Shale Formation of Nevada.
It was recombined as Oryctocephalites (Parachangaspis) palmeri by Yuan and Zhao (2001).
