Taxonomy
Aspidocalyptus castroi was named by Cabrera (1939). Its type specimen is MLP 37-111-7-6., a mandible (Hama mandibular derecha incompleta, con los dientes 2-8 mús o menos destruídos; muchos trozos pequeiíos del caparazon, y dos frag- mentos del tubo caudal. Campo), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Robilotte field - SE of Epecuén lagoon & E of Laguna de Epecuén, which is in a Huayquerian terrestrial siltstone/siltstone in the Epecuén Formation of Argentina.
