Taxonomy
Ceratites tuberosus was named by Arthaber (1896). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tiefengraben (Arthaber section), which is in a Pelsonian/Illyrian carbonate limestone in the Gutenstein Formation of Austria.
It was recombined as Ceratites (Philippites) tuberosus by Diener (1907); it was recombined as Philippites tuberosus by Spath (1934).
