Kuehneon was named by Kretzoi (1960). It is not extant. Its type is Kuehneon duchyense.
It was assigned to Symmetrodonta by Kretzoi (1960); and to Kuehneotheriidae by Cassiliano and Clemens (1979), McKenna and Bell (1997), Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004).
