Megalodus tofanae was named by Hoernes (1900). It is not extant.

It was recombined as Triadomegalodon tofanae by Posenato and Ietto (1995).

Synonyms
  • Megalodus gryphoides was named by Guembel (1900). It is not extant. Its type locality is Reut im Winkel, which is in a Rhaetian marine horizon in the Koessen Formation of Germany.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Megalodus tofanae by Frech (1912).
