Taxonomy
Paleosiphonia oppositiclada was named by Parker and Dawson (1965). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is LACM 10202 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CIT 387b, which is in a Serravallian marine horizon in the Monterey Formation of California. It is the type species of Paleosiphonia.
