Anchistodelphys was named by Cifelli (1990). It is not extant. Its type is Anchistodelphys archibaldi.
It was assigned to Metatheria by Cifelli (1993); to Marsupialia by Cifelli (1990), McKenna and Bell (1997); to Ameridelphia by Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004); to Peradectidae by Goin et al. (2006); to Metatheria by Williamson et al. (2012); and to Marsupialiformes by Williamson et al. (2014).
