Taxonomy
Artodictis was named by Mercerat (1891) [1891a]. It is not extant. Its type is Arctodictis munizi.
It was synonymized subjectively with Borhyaena by Ameghino (1894); it was corrected as Arctodictis by Marshall (1978), Forasiepi et al. (2004), Goin et al. (2007).
It was assigned to Borhyaenidae by McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Borhyaeninae by Marshall (1978), Forasiepi et al. (2004), Goin et al. (2007).
It was synonymized subjectively with Borhyaena by Ameghino (1894); it was corrected as Arctodictis by Marshall (1978), Forasiepi et al. (2004), Goin et al. (2007).
